I kinda just did a whole vlog.. which is very strange for this channel's standards so bare with me.
This is something I've considered to upload onto the main channel, not only to try something new and finally show off the Bay Area I love so much, but have some soon-to-be historical footage of the biggest change to the Bay Area's incredibly unique Transit System.
This documented footage will be uploaded for archive purposes and for it to someday end up in the history books in the next 50 or so years.
DESCRIPTION:
On Saturday, April 20th, 2024..
BART, also known as the Bay Area Rapid Transit, one of the biggest and few of the most historical Transit systems in history, officially retired the 51 (in a half) year old "Legacy Fleet" (A, B & C Fleets) that has traveled on all 5 lines since the system's opening on September 11th, 1972.
This was the only fleet we've ever had until January of 2018 when the (D & E Fleets) Fleet of the Future entered service with new tech, a more modern look, and one of the biggest changes to BART's system as the Legacy's slowly retired.
This was one of the few oldest vehicles to still be in service with loads of problems but has lived through so much of what the Bay Area has gone through, and it became Bay Area Residents favorite trains to love and hate and be hugely nostalgic over.
It was a devastating surprise to know that these old fleets would be replaced but we had to give them one final farewell in the hugest way possible. So BART decided to give everyone one final ride on these trains and run the very first line that entered service (Orange Line) Between MacArthur and Fremont Stations, with a Bay Fair Express train that ran from MacArthur to Bay Fair with no stops in between.
This video will be PART 2 of this 2 part video, featuring the final ride on the two Fremont bound trains between MacArthur and Fremont, alongside a special additional trip back to Union City for the second Fremont train before saying goodbye.
Some folks I knew were with me, so I'll mention them here:
@sol__feather - Filmed the Bay Fair Express trip
@quakekat @quakekatrapid - Was there with Sol__Feather
@ericfung5279 - Was in another car until PT.2
and a couple of other people from the Bay Area Transit Community Discord Server (who don't have a channel I can mention in the description)
If you didn't watch PART 1 or want to see how my trip started to MacArthur along with the start of the event, watch it here: [ Ссылка ]
