To perform the Current Leakage Test, start by plugging the Class II item into the Portable Appliance Tester and then connecting the earth return clip to an area on the appliance that has exposed metal.
Once you've properly connected it, turn the appliance ON. If you’re testing a drill or other heavy machinery, ensure that the appliance is secure for your own safety.You can now perform the test by selecting Current Leakage Test from the appliance testers menu. For the appliance to pass, the result must be less than 1mA.
As always, make sure the appliance has passed a visual inspection before electrically testing it.
