This is the 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF the hard top variant of the worlds most popular sports car. Standing for Retractable Fastback the new RF features sculpted buttresses at the rear. This unique design sets it apart. Our test car was a 2.0 litre producing 158bhp and 148lb ft of torque. Mazda claim 40.9 MPG combined.
Despite its folding metal roof, the new Mazda MX-5 has the same boot capacity as the standard convertible. The interior is simplistic and driver focused. Seating position is pleasing.
0-62mph takes 7.4 seconds, just 0.1 slower than the soft top. Changes have been made to the steering, damper and, anti-roll bars.
The 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF costs from £22,195 and goes on sale 4th March.
