An armed man has been shot dead near the Israeli consulate building and a Nazi history museum, in Munich.

This footage appears to show the gunman walking around the area and firing a rifle. The gunman appears to almost fall over when his weapons. He appears to be armed with an ‘old’ WW2 era rifle, with a bayonet attached.

Police say they attended the scene and fatally shot the gunman. Authorities have confirmed the shooter to be an 18-year-old Austrian man.

The incident took place on the anniversary of an attack at the 1972 Munich Olympics, when Palestinian militants killed 11 Israeli athletes. German police have not made any official announcements about the gunman’s motive, but Austrian officials have confirmed he was a suspected Islamist, as was known to local authorities.

There are no indications that anyone else was hurt in the attack.
