As of midday on Wednesday, there are still three battleground states left to be called by the Associated Press, though all were learning Republican, which would award president-elect Donald Trump additional electoral votes.
About 12 hours after the first polls closed, Trump passed the 270 electoral votes needed to be elected the 47th president of the US, the AP determined.
Trump picked up wins in swing states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and North Carolina, succeeding in collecting electoral vote that some political experts say could have been awarded to Trump's Democrat opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
At Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump spoke early Wednesday morning to a crowd of supporters to accept his victory, alongside his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson and other GOP officials.
