A tragic flash flood in North Sikkim has claimed the lives of at least 10 people, with 82 others still missing, including 22 army jawans. One rescued army jawan is in stable condition. The flood, caused by a cloud burst, has caused extensive damage, including the destruction of bridges and roads, isolating the capital city of Gangtok from Bengal and the rest of the country. Internet and phone lines are severely affected. Search and rescue operations are in progress to locate the missing individuals. Updated figures from the Sikkim government report 14 casualties, 102 missing persons, and 26 injured receiving treatment. The rescue efforts have been ongoing for over 28 hours, with approximately 4000 people relocated to safer areas. Indian Army has issued several helpline numbers for several parts of Sikkim.
