I review the New 2025 Ford Maverick with the arrival of Gasoline Particulate filters being it is the first gas truck in north america to receive these new emission components. As a diesel mechanic I discuss the pros and cons of these GPF filters, how they work and why Ford implemented them on the Maverick 2L. Will the full sized F-150's be NEXT to have gasoline Particulate filters??

Well the time has seemingly come, We are going to start to see Gasoline Particulate filters here in North America. and to be honest it only makes sense that this would be implemented given the fact that Direct injection gasoline engines produce alot more soot and particulate matter then a standard Port injection gas engine.

in fact a modern diesel engine produced less particulate matter then some of these direct injection turbo charged gas engines like the 2L turbo in the ford maverick.

the main benefit of these filters is the elimiate up 99% of the harmful hydro carbons as well as the very small particulate matter that can cause great health issues in the human lung.

the downside in my opinion is the complexicity and therefore the reliability of these new Gasoline Particulate matter filters. I know on the diesel side if these emission components fail it will derate the engine and causes headaches.

although with gasoline engines having less soot load ideally these GPF filters will be more robust and reliable - only time will tell.
