Air pollution is one of the trends we think is going to hit the headlines big time in 2019 but did you know that air quality can actually be up to five times worse inside your home?
We spend 90% of our time indoors and Research by the World Health Organisation has found that indoor air quality can often be two to five times worse than outdoors. We use loads of different things in our home that produce pollutants and without proper ventilation (which people find difficult especially in winter) all that bad air can stay circulating around your home.
Luckily there are some really simple things you can do to clean up the air in your home:
1) Open your windows more often to ventilate your home. This is really important when drying clothes inside or cooking. Try opening the windows when you wake up and before you go to bed for ten minutes.
2) Fill your home with air cleansing plants. Check out this NASA approved list [ Ссылка ]
3) Clean carpets and sheets regularly. Dust mites love to snuggle up in musty places so a quick clean can make all the difference.
4) Switch to natural cleaning products to reduce chemical fumes or if you do have to use heavy chemicals make sure to open the windows. NOTE: we have been informed that VOC's
'come from anything that smells – lemons, perfume, coffee all have a very high VOC profiles – it is the dose / exposure that is the problem not the VOC per se.'. So best to open the window even when using natural cleaning products.
