Dr. Amara is an associate professor in the Department of Neurology at UAB. She studies sleep disorders in patients with Parkinson's disease )PD) and other neurodegenerative disorders. Specifically, she investigates the impact of deep brain stimulation on sleep in PD and studies the influence of daytime sleepiness on safety in these patients. Additional research interests include the effect of exercise on sleep in patients with Parkinson's disease.
