The video script and project description below:
Beginning 2018 I started supporting 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life' charity with marketing & social media services on a voluntary basis. The past 8 years the charity has supported children in crisis mostly in Africa and Asia, recently focusing on Feathers Tale, an eco-community of children with special needs and single mums based in Moshi, Tanzania.
Fast forwarded to today, I became the "Marketing & Communications Manager" at the charity, offering my time on a voluntary basis because of my love for the projects LNADJ is supporting, and because of the massive impact a small amount of money can make on an African community.
Last year the charity fundraised over € 67 000 for a special-needs home next to the Kilimanjaro Mountains, a home that can host up to 50 children and their single mums.
Most of us have celebrated Christmas and New Year with their loved ones, spending money on useless presents which we will hardly ever use. On a night out with friends we don't mind spending a € 100 on entrance tickets, alcohol or drugs just to satisfy ourselves. Maybe it's time we equal up some of our crazy spendings and give something back to the less fortunate in Africa.
Fortunately, we have the power to help the street children if we work together. We can give a purpose to their life again, and a future to look out for. We have this power in our hands, working with this great grassroots charity project.
It costs just € 115 per child a year to offer a safe space away from the street to develop their education, receive counselling and to grow their life skills.
I'm aiming to raise € 550 before the end of January, when I'm visiting Feathers Tale e-community and Angels Gate in Tanzania. An organised fundraiser trip with the LNADJ team, several fundraisers and street artist whereby we will open a local music school, decorate the special needs home and organise art & music workshops.
All of this for street involved children, who aside from hunger and lonely nights sleeping on the street, also sadly become involved in drugs, abuse and rape on the streets by gangs of older men.
Street to Street is a new LNADJ art project that is being launched with the collaborative efforts of Ambassador Paul Dizzi Saunders from London Westbank. It includes art workshops with the help of local Wachata Crew and with high profile international street artists such as Tom 'Inkie' Bingle, George SEN-One Morillo, Nicolas Dixon & Scott Gray from Chapter Art Ibiza.
On top of that we have two DJ/Producers flying over with us who will teach the boys the basic DJ skills, including music production, as part of the opening of the new music school which was funded by Loopmasters, who are also supporting this phase of the project.
Our aim is to engage with street artists to create art as a method to support for the youth and communities that have faced social exclusion and trauma.
We all had some celebration weeks behind, but I'm asking you to donate something towards children in need. Children who do not have support without people like you and me. All money raised through this campaign goes directly to the charity. My flights to Africa and hotel I paid for personally in order to fund this trip, and get the maximum amount of support to those in need.
Thanks for listening.
