My first online tree trail / talk which was done at the Cowick Barton playing fields shortly after I completed my 12 month study of Manna ash.
Cowick Barton Fields is a large green space which is split into 3 main areas:
2 x Large fields
1 x Children's play area
Most common native tree: Hornbeam
Most common non-native tree: Sycamore
Italian alder x 1
Grey alder x 1
London plane x 1
Manna ash 5+
Common ash 5+
Norway maple x 3
Limes (mixed species) 5+
English oak x 4
Birch (mixed species) 5+
Black Locust x 2
Tulip tree x 1
Lucombe oak x 1 (small)
Orchard stock (mixed) 20+
Wild space x 1
There are also quite a few hedges which contain Elder, hawthorn, Blackthorn, Elm, Holly and Field maple.
The children's play (not filmed) contains (from memory):
Horse chestnut x 1
Red oak x 1
Common ash x 1
Holm oak x 2
Bird cherry x 2
Hornbeam x 1
It would be nice to see more 'managed' hedges around the children's play area - such as Beech or Hornbeam. More benches would be a welcome sight.
