With a severe surge in Covid-19 cases, the UK govt announced a travel ban on arrivals from India. India is included in the ‘red list’ of over 30 countries, including Bangladesh and Pakistan. Travellers from India will be refused entry into the UK unless they are British nationals. UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced the decision calling it ‘vital but difficult’. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson also cancelled his scheduled visit to New Delhi in view of the surge in cases in India.
