David by Michelangelo is considered one of the best sculptures ever carved. It is east to see how Michelangelo was a student of the study of the beauty in the human body. It is hard to believe this piece of marble was a hand me down that someone else had already begun carving. Also Michelangelo did not make any preliminary sculptures.
