Judo Bank Economic Advisor Warren Hogan says inflation figures released on Tuesday probably did not come as a surprise to any Australians, given the costs of living.
Data released by the ABS revealed headline inflation has risen 3.5 per cent year on year.
"It was a big number, and it's taken a few people by surprise in the financial markets," Mr Hogan told Sky News Australia.
"It's at odds with the RBA's view that they've been telling us about inflation for the last year or so - but I don't think it's a surprise to any Australians - they can see the cost of living's going's up.
"And really, it's been happening now for quite some time for the last six months at least."
