DON'T GET A MANUAL CAM CHAIN TENSIONER FOR YOUR 06+ R6! Here is why I think that: there is an oil line that feeds directly to the cam chain tensioner and does two important things. One: it builds pressure inside of the automatic CCT so as you increase RPMs and oil pressure it causes the CCT to extend a bit and put more pressure on the cam chain as you rev the bike higher, I think this is vital for peak performance that Yamaha tuned and designed the bike to do. Two: it allows oil to leak onto the cam chain guide and onto the cam chain further lubricating it. A manual cam chain tensioner blocks this oil port off and allows neither to happen! It is almost like a form of variable cam timing. At lower RPMs the cam chain tensioner is looser and allows for a bit more torque, at higher RPMs it allows for advanced timing as it is revving extremely fast (just as an example I am not sure that is how it exactly works). If your cam chain rattles on startup replace with a new Yamaha one, Be sure not to jump timing when you take out the old CCT, I have had this happen to me before, you must put some pressure on the cam chain when you take out the old CCT otherwise I think the bike will jump timing.
