This is a wonderful clip of the late Wilberth Antonio, lead guide for over 15 years at Pesca Maya Fishing Lodge, Ascension Bay, Punta Allen, Mexico. He was the first Certified Saltwater Tenkara Fishing Guide in the world and made casting a 50+ fixed line setup look so easy and effortless. In this he is demonstrating the cast and tenkara side strip that can be used in both salt and fresh water. This is a 4 minute clip and while he does pause and wait at points throughout the clip, he is doing this to allow the fly to sink as we are in deeper water. The object of the video was less about actually catching a fish and more about showing the cast and how the line can lay out. He also does an effortless back cast several times a few minutes into the video. Feel free to speed it up through the pausing/fly sinking moments.
Wilberth passed away in a tragic accident on January 22, 2021. He was 36 and leaves behind his wife and two children.
