✓ Vada Pav Burger (A Bateta Vada in a soft bun) garnished with some very special sauces........."this is India's version of the Great British Chip Butty":
* Typically the spiced potato filling is made using: *skinned, boiled and mashed potato,
Which is tempered with a "bhagar / vaghar":

* Tumeric (Haldi).
* Curry Leaves.
* Salt (Namak).
* Garlic (Lasun).
* Ginger (Adrak).
* Freshly chopped Coriander Leaves (Dhania).

All of which is quickly fried together & then added (whilst still hot) to the mashed potato & mixed together. (Note: when making the potato balls, the key is to make the balls tight).
The vada batter is typically made using:
* Gram Flour (Chickpea / Besan flour).
* Salt (Namak).
* Turmeric (Haldi).
* Cold Water.
A burger bun (pav) is spread with a sweet Tamarind (Imli) Chutney + Green Garlic Chutney (usually containing Coriander Leaves, Garlic, Ginger, Red Chilli Powder, Water) and is then served up with fried green chilies on the side (if you want extra fire to the dish).
The humble Vada Pav is one of the Indian sub-continents most famous and favourite of street foods Vada Pav and is especially popular in Mumbai and it's beaches such a Juhu Chowpati...
We are very much humbled, in awe and honoured to have attended this event and to have gotten to taste the tastiest of freshly made food anywhere, being given food that was blessed by hand and human touch and further energised and charged by positive thoughts.
The Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan event celebrates Sikh and Punjabi culture and is one of the most important events in the Sikh calendar, at the event (which has a festival or Mela type atmosphere) volunteer Sikhs give out free langar, langar is Prasad (also known as food blessed by God) so they don't charge for it so it gets served up for free!!!
You'd be forgiven if you thought that this Indian Street Food stall (or "Lari") was somewhere on the busy, bustling streets, beaches or restaurants of India - astonishingly these guys were making these Indian treats in the heart of "Proper London" - making them fresh and serving them piping hot within a matter of minutes.........delicious restaurant quality food with no service charge added !!!
Unlike some places there was nothing hidden and no secret to the recipe because everything was made in the open kitchen in full view of people .
A special thank you to all of the people who came together for this event, everyone we came across very much welcomed us and graciously allowed us a privileged glimpse into their kitchen to do the videoing even though they were extraordinarily busy.
Even though the weather was overcast with rain falling, the people at this event bought only sunshine into everyone's lives.
It is truly refreshing to come across people who are carrying out unconditional service to help the most needy in our society this we have found especially with the Sikh / Singh community, may God Bless them all for what they do!!!

Vada Pav or Wada Pau however you say it (or spell it) it is utterly delicious............these guys make it look very easy, but it takes many years of skilful practice to make a perfect Vada Pav like you see here.
Vada Pav is an ubiquitous and popular street food in India. The main recipe ingredients vary from place to place & shop to shop but highly likely it will be as follows: boiled, mashed & spiced potato with: Mustard Seeds, Garlic, Ginger, Freshly chopped Coriander Leaves, Coriander Powder, Curry Leaves, which are then rolled & shaped into balls & then dipped in a lightly spiced gram flour (besan) batter & then deep fried until crispy & golden. The fried vada is then placed inside a soft bread roll (pav) the pav having been pre-spread with green & tamarind (imli) chutneys + a generous sprinkle of a Sukhi (dry) Garlic & Coconut chutney.
