The DOJ's new Title II web accessibility regulation not only establishes a formal legal precedent for accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act, it gives us insight and a preview of what to expect for Title III regulation. Further, the new Title II rule may impact existing website accessibility litigation.
WCAG 2.1 AA conformance has always been a best practice for ADA website compliance, but now we definitively know the DOJ views these standards as applying to web content including social media and documents (PDFs, PowerPoints, spreadsheets, and Word docs) as well as websites and web pages.
I discuss many of the implications from the new digital accessibility regulation in this video.
