To have healthy calves, you should be able to bring your toes 6” away from a wall.
That’s 100% function.
For every half inch away from 6”, subtract 8% function.
So 5.25” is 88% function.
That’s what Dr Joe has here.
He also has 6/10 mid calf tightness.
Dr. Nico marks the primary calf tissues that limit ankle dorsiflexion.
Then, he comments that he feels gluey adhesion in the soleus muscle.
Adhesion is the most common cause of chronic pain and tightness.
And it won’t be fixed by physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, braces, or shots.
Dr Nico removes some of the adhesion with his hands and Dr. Joe now has 5.75” of dorsiflexion or 96% function with 2/10 pulling in his calf.
