Russian forces hit Mariupol’s Azovstal steel works with rockets, after several dozen civilians were evacuated from there on Monday. Russia’s defense ministry says its troops carried out the attacks after Ukrainian soldiers started to move into firing positions.

‘A ceasefire was declared, civilians had to be evacuated from Azovstal territory. Azov and Ukrainian servicemen, who are stationed on the plant, took advantage of it. They came out of the basement, they took up firing positions on the territory and in the factory buildings,’ the RIA news agency cited the ministry as saying.
