Borek Recipe
Dough Ingredients:
• 500g bread flour
• 1g dry instant yeast
• 10g sugar
• 12g salt
• 300g warm water
For Oiling:
• 70g butter (melted)
• 70g oil
Filling:
• Feta cheese
• Mozzarella cheese
(or substitute with your choice of meat, fruit, or chocolate)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
• Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and warm water in a large bowl.
• Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
• Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
Prepare the Butter Mixture:
• While the dough is resting, melt the butter and mix it with the oil.
Divide and Layer the Dough:
• After resting, divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.
• Roll each piece into small circles.
• Layer the dough circles in a bowl, spreading each one generously with the butter mixture in between.
Second Rest:
• Let the layered dough circles rest for 15-20 minutes.
Shape the Borek:
• Stretch each dough circle until it’s very thin and transparent.
• Add your choice of filling (such as feta and mozzarella).
• Shape the borek according to your preference.
Bake:
• Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
• Bake the borek for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
