Assam Congress MP and former Minister Pradyut Bordoloi, while hailing the Union budget 2023, rued the absence of any special package for Northeast India in the same.
Speaking to media in New Delhi, Bordoloi opined that the "BJP government has put forth this budget with forthcoming elections in mind."
"Simply put, this is a good budget because they are planning to provide some relief to the middle class with it. Indians, especially those belonging to the middle class, are presently burdened with taxes. Therefore, we are welcoming the move to reduce the burden of taxes," he added.
The second reason is that this budget can be considered good is because it is oriented towards the future, he added.
"We are witnessing global warming and weather change and the government in its budget has addressed these issues. If they are able to implement these measures, it will be good for India, the nature, and the planet as a whole," said Bordoloi.
