This volleyball serve and serve receive drill for small groups is an upgrade to butterfly drill.
The players here are outsides, middles, and opposites, with a libero. The flow of rotaton basically goes in a circle and every players take a turn at each skill. Except the libero remained in zone sox for a set amount of time.
Here the players rotated from serve and defend, set, hit, and then back the serve and defend again.
However, you can modify the rotation however you want. If you have more players you can have them block after they hit, and then the blocker would go back and serve/defend again and the cycle repeats. I think you could have this going on both sides, if you're level of play can handle that safely.
We weren't playing this out, but in larger groups we probably would. This was a drill that we used simply to focus on serving and a a bit of seeve receive. We added the other components to up the player engagement, and to get more reps at things we weren't necessarily focused on (i.e., performing multiple skills to vary and interleave the serving reps).
