With COVID-19 there seem to be more questions than answers, particularly for funders who want to respond effectively and efficiently. The Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) is hosting a series of seven webinars to bring expert panelists together to address some of the most pressing issues, including getting money out the door quickly, supporting vulnerable populations and investing in local communities.
The fourth webinar on Tuesday, May 26 at 2 p.m. ET explored the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and its impact on nonprofits and vulnerable communities. The webinar also addressed the limitations of governmental responses and how philanthropists can act directly, and act as advocates, for better protections for at-risk populations, including approaches for developing a public policy agenda for philanthropy, based in equity.
CDP Director of Strategic Initiatives Sally Ray moderated the discussion and panelist included:
- Aaron Dorfman, National Committee on Responsive Philanthropy
- Ruth Madrigal, KPMG, Washington National Tax Office
The webinar was presented in partnership with The Humana Foundation and was co-sponsored by Council on Foundations, Grantmakers in Health, National Center for Family Philanthropy, Grantmakers in Aging, the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, National VOAD, InterAction and United Philanthropy Forum.
The next webinar on June 9 will focus grantmaking to support children and older adults. Register: [ Ссылка ]
