Florida Board-Certified Civil Trial Attorney Joe Zarzaur explains more about what “full coverage” auto insurance is in Florida.
In Florida, "full coverage" auto insurance is defined as having a minimum of $10,000 in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and $10,000 in Property Damage Liability (PDL). This is the minimum requirement for being considered "fully" covered under Florida law.
However, in Florida, drivers are not mandated to carry additional coverages such as Bodily Injury (BI) liability, Medical Payments (Med Pay), Collision, Comprehensive, or Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) coverage. These optional coverages provide extra protection and come at an additional cost.
