Curtain call after a superlative performance of Macbeth at the LA Opera 2016-17 season opening night. Maestro Placido Domingo titling the opera together with the entire cast and chorus, led by Maestro James Conlon, did supreme justice to Verdi's wonderful score, and elevated opera the art form to its best possible result.
Director Darko Tresnjak created a most effective staging - dramatically powerful and visually sophisticated, while also leaving ample space for the singers to showcase their dramatic instincts, none more so than that of Maestro Domingo. And what a VOICE!
Again, it was Verdi's genius music carried out by the master musicians on stage and from the orchestra that made this a most wonderful performance.
I'm left in awe and immense gratitude.
Bravo Maestro Domingo! King of Opera. And more than that.
