The Brown prionid longhorn beetle (Orthosoma brunneum) is a large, slender, brown beetle. Often found at night near lights. They have astrong jaws that, if not respected, can deliver a powerful bite, but that's not all....these beetles can squeak! Prionid beetles have somewhat soft, leathery elytra and quite long antennae. If you look at their pronotum, you will notice several little teeth or spikes sticking out. They have massive eyes. So much so, that - like other members of the Cerambycidae family - they have to be notched at the base of the antennae. The eyes are so big, they wrap around their head from top to bottom! #beetle #bigbug #scarybugs
