The Taliban has banned women in Afghanistan from attending university, further reducing women’s rights in the country.
The move on Tuesday was met with condemnation from various governments and rights groups around the world and followed by protests within the country.
When the Taliban took control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of the US army the group initially promised it would rule the country differently than it had before the US invasion.
Some western countries demanded the improvement of women’s education as a requirement for the Taliban being formally recognised as Afghanistan’s government.
