Can Breastfeeding prevent pregnancy?
🍒Can breastfeeding act as contraceptive?
👩🍼That's called the LAM or Lactation Amenorrhea method
Well, the answer is quite tricky!
Because it's a yes and no!
Please read entire caption below for clear information 👇
It's a yes if (only 97% effective though)
- you are exclusively breastfeeding the baby.
- the baby is feeding on regularly 3 - 4 hrs intervals, also during nights
- your periods hasn't started yet
- you do not have any hormonal imbalance issues.
And not effective to rely on: if,
- the baby goes longer (more than 3-4 hours) without breastfeeding
- you are giving formula or any other food to baby (after 6 months)
- your periods started
- if baby is 6 months and older
😇It's the best choice to consult your gynecologist For safe methods of contraception as early as 6 weeks! To avoid the hassles of undesired pregnancy in least intervals. 🙊
By the way,
WHO recommended interpregnancy interval is 18-36 months.
