This Yamaha part number (3LP-W1551-00-00) IDLER, GEAR SET appears to fit ONLY the XV 1100 Virago's from 1986 to 1999 not the smaller XV700

Check with your parts dealer or click the link below and enter your bike year, model, and in the "Select Diagram" box click on "STARTER CLUTCH" If the parts diagram only shows the same old original parts with the spring in between them then this new part without the spring was not made to fit your bike.

Both gears come as an assembly under one part number.
New part assembly does NOT use a spring.
