January of 1943, and Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering is preparing to speak at a huge rally in Berlin. It is to be a day of celebrations to mark the 10th Anniversary of the rise of the German ruling party.
Goring has ordered his speech to be broadcast on the radio and have his words spread to the far reaches of the 3rd Reich.
It is designed to lift the spirits and fortify the resolve of the German people in their push for victory.
But the British have rumbled his plans and they have come up with an idea that will send Goring into a fit of rage and humiliation…..
……and it involves just 6 wooden aeroplanes…..
The RAF would send 6 de Havilland Mosquito aircraft from 105 Squadron and 139 (Jamaica) Squadron to ruin Goering's Parade.
British intelligence knew exactly the time that Hermann Goering would be speaking and so planned an audacious raid on Berlin at exactly that time.
The raids would lay waist the the earlier claim by the Luftwaffe Commander that 'No enemy aircraft would fly over Berlin.
