The world premiere of a major new composition written for the Freer|Sackler by members of the Grammy Award-winning Silkroad Ensemble and inspired by artwork on view in the galleries. Debuting the work are Indian tabla (drums) virtuoso Sandeep Das, shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) master Kojiro Umezaki, Shaw Pong Liu on violin and erhu (Chinese fiddle), Wu Tong on vocals and sheng (Chinese mouth organ), Jeffrey Beecher on bass, and percussionist Shane Shanahan.
