Magnetic Tech Brine Shrimp Eggs (Artemia Cysts)
Live newly hatched brine shrimp (artemia) is THE BEST, most nutritious and cleanest food that your can feed your jellyfish! And, hatching your own artemia is very easy!
But, things get more complicated, time consuming and messy when it comes the time to the traditional methods employed to separate the newly hatched, 'baby' brine shrimp (artemia nauplii) from their egg shells and unhatched cysts! These are NOT traditional artemia cysts!!
The traditional method involves positioning a strong light close to the bottom of the hatching vessel and waiting for awhile while many of the artema congregate close to the light. Then using a small hose positioned close to the congregation, slowly siphon the live artemia into another vessel while trying to avoid sucking up any of the shells. Inevitably some of the artemia will be missed, which leads to waste. It is also inevitable that some of the shells will get sucked up with the brine shrimp and the procedure will need to be repeated... Place the light, wait for the congregation, suck up most of the artemia, don't suck up shells, strain... repeat (as many times as is necessary to get mostly shell free artemia nauplii). In reality, it is quite difficult to get 100% of the shells removed from the collected artemia and any shells that your jellyfish ingest, can cause problems for it.
Magnetic Artemia Eggs (Cysts) are "THE" easy-separation-solution! The cysts are subjected to a revolutionary process that magnetizes shells!!! Once hatched the artemia nauplii are easily separated from the shells and unhatched cysts by passing them by a magnet. As the shells are magnetized, they are attracted to the magnet and the live brine shrimps, pass by cleanly.
These Magnetic Artemia Cysts from the Great Salt Lake region have a hatch rate of 80%! This produces a higher number of usable artemia nauplii than regular cysts with a 90%+ hatch rate when the notable number of artemia nauplii that are wasted in the traditional collection and separation procedure is taken into account. When using Magnetic Artemia Cysts, almost no artemia nauplii are wasted and they are healthier and stronger as they haven't had to deal with multiple separation attempts.
And, the the resulting batch of artemia nauplii are almost 100%/completely shell free.
