The “Standard Operating Procedures for the Protection of Juveniles", are the fruit of a joint initiative of the ministry, USJ, the European Union, and UNICEF, the world’s leading advocate for children who’s been on the ground in Lebanon since 1948.
Since 2011, UNICEF and its partners, have been supporting the Ministry of Social Affairs in strengthening the national child protection system. The partnership has been heavily focused on reforming the child protection agenda; aligning and coordinating government agencies, academia and civil society organisations, and their mandate and expertise.
The European Union funded the collaboration of MoSA and UNICEF, while USJ (Université Saint-Joseph - Ecole Libanaise de Formation Sociale) provided technical support in line with the requirements of the Lebanese system and in compliance with international standards, with the aim of strengthening the capacity of professionals working on child protection, and providing juveniles with appropriate support.
