This mother grizzly bear walked right past the outhouse at Brooks camp in Katmai National Park. Grizzly Bears are all over inside Brooks, and yet many tens of thousands of visitors come specifically to see them each year. There hasn't been a death in Brooks in decades, and the last bear "destroyed" as the park puts it was in 1982. That's right this place is the epicenter of bears in the US, and yet it is one of the safest places to come see them in pseudo wilderness. Grizzly bears are a huge part of Alaska and definitely the reason that Brooks Falls exists as a tourists destination. If you're looking to visit Alaska don't miss out on this place. Alaska is big, and the bears spread out but here they are concentrated into one place fro many many weeks a year making it easy to see them, and very safe despite the huge numbers of bears.
