🤩 This video includes:-
5 days of trekking and camping tour at the Knuckles forest reserve. Dumbara Ella, Walpolamulla (The smallest village in Sri Lanka) & Manigala mountain are the main attractions of the hike.
Matale - Atanwala - Manigala - Walpolamulla - Weddahena - Dumbara ella - Duwili ella - Rabukoluwa - Dambulla are the main check-points in our hike. Our main target is Duwili Ella, but we cannot find the correct parth to Duwili Ella. Participated in two persons and no guides for the trekking.
1st day
We started from Colombo Fort and we get the bus to Kandy ( Matale bus was not available for 3-4 hours at that time). From Kandy, we get a bus to Matale. From there we get a bus to Atanwala village via Riversturn. This time also we got super heavy backpacks because we plan to stay at least 4 days inside the forest. We plan to stay our 1st night at top of the Manigala mountain, but unfortunately, camping was restricted in that season. Then we move to the Walpolamulla to spend our 1st night. Walpolamulla village is the smallest village in Sri Lanka, we tented up in there. We had a bath in a nearby water stream.
2nd day
We kept our heavy bags inside the tents, and we march towards the Manigala mountain. Wow, it was a good hike. My eyes are so lucky to see those kinds of scenarios. When we back to the Walpolamulla we met two villagers. First, we were shocked we recognize them as poachers, but they are friendly with us, and they took us to the Walpolamulla with a shortcut and they offer night stay in the one and only house in the smallest village in Sri Lanka. Also, they arrange us good dinner too.
3rd day
We visited an abandoned paddy field there. What a view bunch of mountains covering the village. We spend so much time there and we moved forward. Sometimes we lost our path, we go here and there, the feeling was WOW. However, we ended up near Weddahena and we tented up there. We had a nice bath there.
4th day
We went camping inside the Duwilli Ella. We walk for hours, we couldn't find it. But we found Dumbara Ella, again Wow rating for it. So a disappointing day for us, because not find the Duwilli Ella. The offline map was there but mobile phones are dead because our power banks are getting wet and not working. However, we decided to go back to the Weddahena and stay the night.
5th day
We decided to finish our tour without going again deep into the jungle. We marched towards the Rabukoluwa village. In that part also too many subpaths. With prior hiking experiences little bit easy to manage those things and choose the correct path. However, we manage to get out of the jungle after a long walk. From there we got a truck to Dambulla. From Dambulla town, we got a bus to Colombo.
Enjoy!
