Let me share three tips for tackling your first gouache painting!

1. Think of it like a coloring page with crayons. Once you've sketched your design into big blocky shapes, simply think of your painting like a coloring page. If you can stay inside the lines, you can complete this painting!

2. Keep your shapes simple and big. I've found that tiny shapes make people shy away from painting. They worry about their paint running into other areas. By keeping your shapes simple and large, the paint is more likely to stay inside the desired area.

3. Allow your base layer to dry completely before adding details on top. By doing this, your details will pop with contrast! I love the opaque quality of layering gouache paint!
