Get ready to tantalize your taste buds with this mouth-watering Charsi Chicken Karahi recipe, straight from the streets of Pakistan. This street-style chicken karahi is a burst of flavors that will leave you wanting more. It's spicy, it's tangy, and it's everything you want in a karahi.
Ingredients:
1 kg chicken (with bones, cut into medium-sized pieces)
1/2 cup oil
3 medium-sized onions (finely chopped)
4-5 tomatoes (finely chopped)
2 tbsp ginger paste
2 tbsp garlic paste
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp coriander seeds
2-3 dried red chilies
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt (to taste)
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
Method:
Heat the oil in a karahi or a deep wok.
Add cumin and coriander seeds, and dried red chilies. Fry for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add onions and fry until they turn golden brown.
Add ginger and garlic paste and fry for a minute.
Add tomatoes and fry until they are soft and mushy.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add chicken pieces and mix well until they are coated with the masala.
Cover the karahi and let it cook on low heat for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
Once the chicken is cooked, turn the heat to high and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the gravy thickens.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
