One of Sydney’s oldest private schools will soon become co-educational.
Newington College is set to gradually transition to co-ed from 2026.
While there has been widespread support for the move, not everyone has shown solidarity.
Former Labor minister Graham Richardson joined Sky News Australia to discuss the educational and institutional comparisons between single-gender and co-ed schools.
“I’m not a fan of co-education and it seems to me that it’s now becoming the norm,” he said.
“Boys and girls schools will be a thing of the past if we allow this just to continue.”
