El intestino permeable, también conocido como síndrome del intestino permeable o permeabilidad intestinal aumentada, es una condición en la cual la barrera intestinal que normalmente regula el paso de sustancias entre el intestino y el torrente sanguíneo se vuelve más permeable de lo habitual. En condiciones normales, esta barrera intestinal evita que toxinas, bacterias y partículas no deseadas ingresen al torrente sanguíneo, permitiendo solo el paso de nutrientes esenciales. Sin embargo, cuando la permeabilidad intestinal aumenta, estas sustancias pueden cruzar la barrera intestinal y entrar al flujo sanguíneo, lo que puede desencadenar una respuesta inflamatoria y provocar diversos problemas de salud.
