Over 1,000 inmates are set to be released as part of the government's plan to ease overcrowding in prisons across England and Wales.
The early release scheme means some prisoners will be freed after serving just 40 percent of their sentence.
Meanwhile, tougher punishments outside prison are being considered as part of a new review into sentencing.
