In this part of our NBA 2K17 MyGM / MyLeague mode series we move to New Orleans and take over the role of GM for the New Orleans Pelicans. With the arrival of Demarcus Cousins in New Orleans, the Pelicans have quickly entered win-now mode – and sadly, the rest of the roster does not really reflect that. The team has quite a few bad contracts that prevent us from bringing a third star to New Orleans and getting rid of those contracts is the main priority for this MyGM / MyLeague mode video. The Pelicans are one of the trickier teams to take over in NBA 2K17’s MyGM or MyLeague mode because the time that both Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins are guaranteed to spend together is limited and so as the GM we only have about two seasons to turn the franchise around. There is a lot to do in New Orleans and in this video I will show you three ideas for moves to make when you take over the New Orleans Pelicans in NBA 2K17 MyGM or MyLeague mode.

We will take a look at the New Orleans Pelicans roster, rotation, contracts and salaries and then make a few trades to get rid of the worst contracts on the roster. The number of trades in this video is a bit higher than usual but things have to change quickly in New Orleans so drastic measures are required. As always in this MyGM / MyLeague mode series we will try to keep the new Orleans Pelicans core together and don’t make any high-profile trades to keep this NBA 2K17 video as realistic as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: I have recorded this NBA 2K17 MyGM guide in the MyLeague mode of NBA 2K17. This was done to prevent my 2k account from leveling up in MyGM. All moves that are made in this video in MyLeague mode can also be made without any problems in MyGM mode.

This NBA 2K17 MyGM video aims to be a realistic guide with ideas on what moves to make in the first year of either MyGM or MyLeague mode. There might be better moves to make – there might also be worse moves to make. NBA 2K17 MyGM mode always offers multiple strategies to achieve success and this video tries to outline only one of them. Above all, realism is key in this series – as far as the game allows for it. We will not go after the same big name free-agents every year and we will not exploit NBA 2K17’s trade logic.

NBA 2K17 is a basketball simulation video game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It is the 18th installment in the NBA 2K franchise and the successor to NBA 2K16. It was released worldwide on September 20, 2016, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Several game modes are included, such as MyCareer, where the player creates a customizable player and plays through their career, MyGM and MyLeague, both franchise modes where the player controls an entire organization, and MyTeam, where the player creates a team to compete against other players' teams.

All NBA 2K17 MyGM gameplay was recorded on the PC at 1080p.
