We have 3 easy tips to break the code that is Cursive!
Hi, I miss Megan and today I have a question for you? Have you ever had a birthday party and you've perhaps got a letter or a note from a grandparent or an older aunt or uncle, and when you opened it up, and you looked at the writing, it almost looked like a secret code? There were lots of squiggles and all the letters were connected. Well, this isn't a secret code, it's actually what is called cursive. Today I'm going to show kids how to write in cursive all the way from letter A to letter Z and we're going to learn both the uppercase, or capital letters, and we're going to learn the lower case. Remember capital letters start sentences as well as anything that's capitalized such as names or different or proper nouns. Today as we go through this video lesson, I'm going to show you how to write each alphabet letter in cursive. And if you print out the printable practice sheets with the link below, you can follow along with the same cursive printables I’m using. You can also follow along by just grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil.
Cursive Writing for Beginners Tip #1- Sizing the Letters
A good tip for beginners learning cursive writing is to make sure that all your letters are the same size. So, if I'm writing all my lowercase letters the same size, and all my upper case letters the same size, it will look very neat and people can read it easily. This a really good tip for helping your cursive handwriting look nice and neat.
Cursive Writing for Beginners Tip #2- Slanting the Letters
Another tip for beginners learning to write in cursive is to make sure that your letters are slanted. This will help you connect all the letters easily and it'll look better. What slanting means is that all the letters are slightly slanted to the right. It’s almost as if a strong wind was blowing your handwriting and kind of making all the letters lean slightly one way.
Cursive Writing for Beginners Tip #3 – Spacing the Letters
One thing while writing cursive that really helps is what we call spacing. The spacing between each letter should be uniform, which means that they're not too far apart and they're not too close together- they're all the same. So, make sure now when you are writing in cursive the spacing is all the same. That will help it look neat and orderly and people can easily read your cursive handwriting.
Thank you for watching my video lesson for beginners on how to write in cursive. I hope with these instructions you were able to learn cursive and know how to easily write each letter. Practice makes perfect, so remember you can always go back and watch this video lesson and practice writing the letters that you struggled with. For more practice, it especially will help if you download the Cursive Writing printable practice sheets for kids, in the link below- and you can follow along with this same type of paper that I'm using through this video lesson.
