Off to the west coast of Ireland early morning. Starting with the CLIFFS OF MOHER (Co. Clare) with Harry Potter, Princess Bride, and Guns Of Navarone filmed here. The rock is mostly shale and sandstone about 320 million years old and 214 meters at the highest point. Breathtaking views from along the south and north points and from O'Brien's tower lookout platform. Next we head to THE BURREN whose topography is mostly limestone and older than the Moher rocks at 340 million years. The limestone is exposed due to glacial action stripping the younger layers away. We finish our tour in the Bohemian-spirited town of GALWAY (Co. Galway) enjoying seafood chowder/IPA pint at the KING'S HEAD then chips at PRATAI, and have ice cream at MURPHY'S with unique house flavors of Dingle Sea Salt and Irish Brown Bread. A great excursion.
