There’s “no certainty at all” that the National Anti-Corruption Commission will be established this year, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“In fact, the government is prepared to campaign over the summer against both the Liberals and the Greens if it doesn’t get what it wants in relation to this legislation,” Mr Clennell said.
“A real sticking point with the Coalition here - the Coalition wants three-quarters of parliament to approve whoever is appointed the commissioner of the new National Anti-Corruption Commission.
“Their argument is a Labor mate could be appointed to the position. The government’s argument is this is an opportunity for the Coalition in government to shut this down.”
