Chilika Lake, lake and lagoon in Odisha state, eastern India. It is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a narrow spit. One of India's largest saltwater lakes, it is 40 miles (65 km) long, 5 to 13 miles (8 to 20 km) wide, and about 6 feet (2 meters) deep.
