Originally written by a man named Seikilos in ancient Greece, this piece is generally considered the oldest complete song. The lyrics to the composition were also included along with the melody:
"While you live, shine
have no grief at all
life exists only for a short while
and Time demands his due
~Seikilos, son of Euterpes"
There is a bit of controversy over when it was written, with estimates being around 200 BCE-200 CE, but nothing has been confirmed for certain.
