The Chieftain was most (in)famous pub in Welwyn Garden City. This is the story of its demise and eventual loss to the town.
5.5.10. There's a notice on the fencing to say a new pub will be built on the site. It's to be called The Chieftain.
22.6.10. The support structure's in place and the artist's impressions are nailed to the surrounding wall. It's going to be a lot smaller than the original and it doesn't inspire any feeling of character. We shall see.
