An opera classic that spread from Venice to the world. “La donne è mobile” is the canzone of the Duke of Mantua from the beginning of the third act of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Rigoletto. At the opera’s premiere at La Fenice in Venice on 11 March 1851, this aria was hailed as the highlight of the evening. Ever since, it has become a part of standard repertoire for tenors – and Venetian gondoliers. Here, tenor Bekhzod Davronov performs the aria at the Opera Gala for the German AIDS Foundation in Bonn. The Beethoven Orchestra Bonn is directed by Dirk Kaftan.
