Are you a fan of rural drives through the countryside?

This past winter, I took a leisurely drive to explore some of the quaint towns in Manitoba's Mennonite "Bible Belt", south of Winnipeg. Beginning in the town of Morden, about 90 minutes southwest of Winnipeg, I made my way through Winkler to see its famous giant hockey stick and try out a great latte at one of Manitoba's most off-the-beaten-path cafes, then headed to Altona to check out the giant portrait of Van Gogh's Sunflowers. I then skirted the USA-Canadian border (both North Dakota and Minnesota) before heading to the Mennonite capital of Steinbach, Manitoba.

This is a sleepy part of the province, but there are some great roadside gems and charming villages just waiting to be explored. Just get in the car and go.
